New Delhi. The total number of mobile connections across the country reached 116.83 crores by the end of July. This is 0.24 percent higher than in June 2019. Among major telecom companies, only Reliance Jio and BSNL have registered an increase in the number of users, all other companies have lost connections. According to the monthly data of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the total number of users of telephone services including landlines across the country reached 118.93 crores by the end of July. The number of landline connections in this has been 2.09 crore.

According to the data, last month Reliance Jio added 85,39,325 mobile connections and its total mobile users reached 33,97,94,939. Apart from this, BSNL has also added new connections. The company added 2,88,027 new users in July, taking the total to 11,64,49,421. The country's largest telecom company Vodafone Idea lost 33,90,797 connections in July. Its total number of mobile users has come down to 38,00,20,434. Bharti Airtel also lost 25,80,020 connections in the reporting period. The total number of mobile users in the company decreased to 32,85,13,369.

In terms of landline, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea added 10,218 and 2,092 new connections respectively. Their total landline users stood at 43,03,070 and 3,65,495 respectively. BSNL's landline users declined from 1,82,056 to 1,04,12,765 more during the period under review. MTNL also reduced 10,809 landline connections to 32,03,527. Tata Telecom and Reliance Communications have also reduced the number of landline connections.

According to TRAI data, a total of 67.80 million people in urban areas use telephone services. These include 65.99 crores mobile and 1.81 crore landline subscribers. Similarly, there are 51.12 crore telephone service users in rural areas, of which 50.85 crores use mobiles and 28.1 lakh landlines. The number of users of broadband service across the country is 60.41 crore. It has 58.56 crore users wireless and 1.85 crore landline broadband users.
