WADA suspended India's National Dope Testing Laboratory

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has suspended recognition of the National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL) for six months amid the ongoing anti-doping campaign in the country. There is not even a year left for the Tokyo Olympics. In such a situation, this step of Wada is a major setback for the ongoing campaign against doping in the country. It is understood that the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) can still collect samples but will have to test the samples during the period of suspension of NDTL from a laboratory outside the country which is recognized by WADA. Wada stated in a media release issued on its website that during the inspection of Wada, NDTL was not found to be in compliance with the International Standards (ISL) set up for the laboratories, due to which it was suspended.
